Scariness in Books and Real Life

Have you ever been reading a book that's not necessarily scary but the part you're reading at the moment is at a scary or intense part ? Well, when that happens to me, I suddenly become more alert, like as if my senses have just been empowered by an invisible force and I get scared that what's happening to the main character in the book is happening to me. For instance in the book, the protagonist is being stalked by the antagonist and is about to be captured or killed, I suddenly hear a noise and jump up( especially if it's dark), ready to run or fight, then I cool down a bit but am still a bit uneasy. It's just like I'm the character in the book and am feeling just like him/her right? Do you ever feel this way?

  2. I've read horror books ALOT. It makes me more alert, just like you said. I once read about murder and how this boy comes out of nowhere murdering everyone he sees because he had lost his family. Now, i keep a look out. When it's 7-8 at night, i keep on looking back and forth to see if anyone is going to po out of nowhere or not.
